Dr Desmond D'souza appointed Assistant Professor of Thoracic Surgery at Ohio State Medical University

Dr. Desmond D’Souza

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Desmond D’Souza, MD as assistant professor of surgery – clinical in the Division of Thoracic Surgery, effective February 1.

Prior to accepting this appointment Dr. D’Souza was the medical director of minimally invasive thoracic surgery at Baylor University Medical Center.

Dr. D’Souza earned his medical degree at St. Johns Medical College in Bangalore, India. He completed a general surgery residency at Yale University School of Medicine and a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. D’Souza specializes in thoracic oncologic surgical treatment of cancers of the lungs, esophagus and mediastinum as well as the management of complex esophageal diseases, motility disorders, hiatal hernias and gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). He has a special interest in minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and thoracic robotic surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is American Board of Thoracic Surgery eligible.

While a clinical instructor at the Cleveland Clinic Dr. D’Souza received several awards and honors for clinical excellence. He has authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and presents nationally and internationally.
