An associate specialist who leads a charity fighting discrimination has been appointed to a senior position on a Welsh health board.
Conwy surgeon Anthony Victor Babu Bathula (pictured) will represent the interests of communities of north Wales as an associate member of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
His new appointment comes in addition to existing work as chair of the North Wales Regional Equality Network, which promotes equality and human rights, and a Keele University visiting speaker promoting interest in health management among doctors, especially SAS doctors.
Mr Bathula said he wanted to boost morale among SAS doctors.
He added: ‘To become a member of the health board is next to impossible for a serving SAS doctor. This is a corporate level of NHS job and I am very humbled by this appointment and happy to serve to the best of my ability.’
